We did it!!!!

To quote Dora the Explorer..."WE DID IT!!!" (commence the dancing) :) Caitlin is potty-trained, and has moved from training pants to big-girl Disney Princess panties. How awesome is that? Way AWESOME!! My girl totally rocks! I'm a pretty happy mommy right now...:D! Thanks to everyone for their love, support, and advice.

She's having a blast in school too-learning her letter sounds, rhyming words, and same/different. She also has a basic concept of familial relationships, too...she knows Aunt Megan is Mommy's sister (I am reminded of that fact daily), and Jocie is her cousin-friend (we've coined a new term here, and she reminds me of that fact more than once daily...she's a smarty-pants, just like her parents). We're still a little shaky on the rest of the family, so we know who is truly important here...JOCIE!!! I guess that means :P on everyone else...

Mommy's gotten into the swing of things at her school, too-I've had to readjust my schedule to switch from French to Spanish (much easier, less stress), and I've had a teacher changed in one class due to a promotion within the history dept., and it looks like I might have another one due to health issues (different history class)...I'll know by Wednesday what's going to happen there.

Mommy's also gotten a little bit more conscious of our nation's governmental actions due to recent announcements and impending Presidential school speeches...not trying to make this a platform, but suffice it to say I'm more than a little terrified at the current swing of the political pendulum-it's going way off "track" (not exactly the word I am looking for, but you get the idea). I'm mainly getting involved for Cait's sake as she is a part of this nation's future, but this is also (unfortunately) history in the making; I need to be "anxiously engaged in a good cause" (direct quote from somewhere in the Book of Mormon-help me out & tell me where it is).

I'm going to try to keep the blog more current than I have in the past year or so since its creation...squeeze in a few posts between homework assignments!

Love you guys!

Late Summer 2009

Woo-hoo!! My first day @ Sam Houston State University was totally awesome! Now on to catching everybody up on the rest of our summer...

Caitlin's 3rd birthday was wonderful-thank you to friends and family who made that possible! She began her first official day of school last Monday, and she loves it-her teacher's name is Ms. Hammond...pretty ironic!!

Mommy's changed her major back to history-can't deal with the stress of accounting even though I practically aced the class...some people can, and some people can't...like teaching!!!!

Megan & Jocelyn came for a visit the second half of July...the girls loved seeing each other, and Caitlin says every day, "Where's Jocie? I miss Jocie." My sentiments exactly, but while Cait doesn't say it, I miss Aunt Megan too...COME BACK!!!

So, that's all for now; I'm going to try again posting pics...here goes nothing!

Spring/Early Summer 2009

Again, I live a busy life-I'm working on my organizational skills!

Okay, so things have slowed down enough to get something up here...but what to say? Let's start with the fact that I made an "A" in my physics class, changed my major from history to accounting, nursed my little girl through her first ear infection, started her in school/daycare, and am currently considering changing my major back to history! There you have it, three months crammed into a paragraph!

Anyway, there will be more to come-Cait's 3rd birthday is next Tuesday...how the time has flown!! My baby isn't really a baby anymore-she's "Cait" (that's what she calls herself)!

I will get pics up when I have a moment...

Easter 2009

Okay, so I haven't posted any pictures yet-it's been crazy with Miya's (my mom) new puppy Jock, as well as me going to school, and blah, blah, blah. Bear with me, the pics are coming!

Easter was pretty fun-we had an egg hunt at church Saturday morning, with one "scheduled" @ G.G.'s (my grandma) for Sunday afternoon. Even though we had rain this morning, the 2nd egg hunt went on without a hitch...YAY!!!!! Caitlin had fun hunting for eggs both times, and she even shared some eggs with another little girl at church yesterday morning-how very sweet of her, and a way to learn service even at a very early age...Mommy was very proud of her.

I was grateful for the opportunity to go to church this Easter morning and reflect on what my Savior means in my life-He lives and because of His sacrifice for me, I'll be able to be live with Him, my Heavenly Parents, and my family in the next life.

Catching Up

Okay, my CD drive works-don't know why I didn't think about cleaning it. I reseated the drive, but never thought about cleaning it....anyway, now I can post pictures!

Not on my computer to post but will be soon-pics of Cait with my mom's new dog Jock...I might have a pic of my cat Oliver to post as well. I took those on Sunday.

Also in the family news-my cousin Adam and his wife Allison had their little girl Emi Michelle last Thursday...the same day my niece Jocelyn turned two!

More to come!

February 2009

Okay, I'm writing mainly to get people off my back-I know it's been a while since I posted anything! I love you guys anyway ;D.

Not much has happened...Valentine's Day (or for the first time in several years, Singles Awareness Day)...my cousin Ransom was baptized (YAY for Ranny!)...not much else. Our lives have been fairly uneventful, which is a good thing, I suppose.

Spring Break is coming up, and while we are not going anywhere, excitement will run amok-can you say potty-training? Hopefully, we can squeeze a few playdates with friends and cousins, but we'll see.

My computer's CD drive is being a pain (what else is new?) but I will post pictures soon!

Love,

Deirdre and Caitlin

Happy New Year!

Happy 2009! I hope this year is better than last year...as my sister Megan told me, it really can't be worse.
I would like to say that Cait and I had a fairly uneventful holiday season, but that wouldn't be true. Caitlin managed to be sick on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and the day after New Year's. Thankfully, she hasn't been seriously ill, just some sort of 24 hr. bug.
Anyway, our Christmas was good-Cait was on the mend, and she was spoiled by grandparents, aunts/uncles, great-grandparents, friends and Santa-she got a kitchen w/accessories, a Cinderella dress w/crown & shoes, and a lot of books and clothes--a big THANK YOU to those who helped make Cait's Christmas a wonderful one: I know it was wonderful (and the best present of all) for Mommy to see that Caitlin is so loved by her family and friends.
The holiday season was good to me as well-it was a great opportunity to reconnect with a couple of old friends from high school! It was wonderful to see them and I am grateful to have people who I haven't seen or talked to in 10 years wanting to stand beside me while I am adjusting to the changes in my life-I know my family is standing with me, but it's nice to know I didn't drive everyone away in high school! :)
I'll be posting Christmas pics on here soon! We love you guys!
